Have you ever wanted to join a book club for films?

Director's Cut is a monthly gathering and open discussion for film enthusiasts.

Led by experienced film editor and teacher Keith Fraase, this program will explore the works of a variety of influential filmmakers to better understand how a director’s art builds and evolves over the course of a career.

We'll choose one director per month and, throughout the course of the month, watch a few of that director's films. When we meet, we'll discuss what we watched and the filmmakers' careers at large and dissect the art of filmmaking.

John Ford will be the subject of May's meeting. The three films we'll be discussing are:

  • HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY (1941)
  • THE SEARCHERS (1956)
  • THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VANCE (1962)

Keith is an experienced film editor who's worked on scripted feature films and multi-part documentaries, taught classes, and served as an expert guest on several film podcasts. Discussing film is one of his greatest joys, and he's hoping to meet others who share and want to develop this passion!

Free and open to all! No experience or registration required.

This session meets from 7-8pm on a Monday at the end of each month: Sept. 18, Oct. 23, Nov. 27, Dec. 18, Jan. 22, Feb. 26, March 25, April 29, May 20, & June 24.
