To support a fiscally responsible approach to the renovation, the Library’s operating budget has been updated to a sustainable model. This shift fully funds our collections, staffing, and renovation debt service without relying on fundraising for core operations.
The community vote on the 2026-2027 Operating Budget will take place on May 19, 2026, and we encourage all voters to participate.
A Note on the Tax Cap
This budget represents a one-time tax cap override. For decades, the Library has maintained strict compliance with the state-mandated tax cap. To secure the future of our physical infrastructure and transition to a sustainable operational model, this one-time adjustment is necessary. The Library plans to return to standard tax cap compliance going forward.
