The Library of Things promotes sustainability and builds community. No need to buy an item you just want to try out or only need once in a while! We already own it, collectively.

FAQ
Take an “available” tag from the pegboard to the Reference Desk. A librarian will retrieve the Thing for you.
Patrons can check out one item at a time.
Bring it directly to the Reference Desk any time during the Library's regular hours. Please do NOT leave it in or on the book drop!
Replacement costs will be assessed if items are not returned within 14 days of their checkout.
Any Croton Free Library cardholders, 18 years or older (or with an adult). Every patron must fill out a waiver at the Reference Desk before their first checkout.
No, items can't be reserved. The only way to check them out is in the Library, in person. Ask at the Reference Desk if they can look up when a Thing is due back!
We are not currently accepting donations to the Library of Things. To suggest an item for us to add, please fill out our Purchase Request form.
With collective ownership comes collective responsibility! Please try not to break, steal, lose, or otherwise mishandle anything you check out.
On the other hand, life happens. We expect regular wear and tear, so please also let us know right away if something you check out is missing or isn't working properly.
