Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a Repair Cafe at the Croton Free Library!

Repair Cafes are events where the community can bring broken but beloved items to be fixed for free by local volunteers who specialize in various fields. We are sharing repair skills, saving money, and keeping items out of the landfill.

Items that can be fixed include:

  • Mechanical and electrical items like lamps and fans, and small appliances like toasters and coffeemakers
  • Digital devices
  • Clothing and textiles
  • Soft toys and upholstery
  • Jewelry
  • Watches that need batteries replaced
  • Bicycles
  • Wooden items
  • Things that need to be glued
  • Kitchen knives that need to be sharpened
  • Window screens (courtesy of Franzoso Contracting)

Sign up here to bring something to the Repair Cafe!

One item per person; second item depending on demand. Registration in advance is preferred, so that repair coaches know what kinds of items are coming in, but walk-ins are also welcome. No weapons or gas-powered equipment permitted.

We also need volunteers to help our cafe run smoothly. Tasks include checking people in and out, overseeing food, and taking photos. Shifts are available from 11am-1pm or 1pm-3pm. To volunteer, email sherryccac@gmail.com

The Repair Café is sponsored by the Croton Free Library, with thanks to the Village of Croton-on-Hudson and its Conservation Advisory Council.
