Kirsten Bakis is our 2025 Croton Reads author! Her new book, King Nyx, is one part historical fiction, one part spooky mystery, and one part Gothic horror — all combining to create a total page-turner.

Jeannie Zusy, local author of The Frederick Sisters are Living the Dream, came to the library and brought her lessons of caregiving and family love.

Little known fact: Just a few dozen yards from the Croton Free Library lies the grave of activist, playwright, public intellectual, and artist, Lorraine Hansberry.

Croton Reads 2018 – our landmark fifth year for this program — was a great success as we chose a work set in the Hudson Valley.
