WHAT IS BATTLE OF THE BOOKS (BOB)?

Battle of the Books is a countywide competition of young adults from all participating Westchester County public libraries. Teams will compete by answering trivia questions based on 5 different books.

WHEN IS THE BATTLE?

Saturday, October 20th, 2018 (Hendrick Hudson High School)

HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE NEEDED TO MAKE A TEAM?

Kid & teen teams must have at least 3 members each to participate.

WHO CAN BE ON THE CROTON FREE LIBRARY BATTLE OF THE BOOKS TEAM?

Anyone entering grades 4-6 or 6-10 in September 2018. The team will be formed in the spring and meet throughout the summer and early fall. Team members should be able to attend practices and the final event on October 20, 2018.

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?

There will be about 12 (bi-weekly) practices between June and October, before the tournament. It will be OK if you have to miss a couple but we ask that you try to make it to every one.

WHAT ARE THE BOOKS YOU HAVE TO READ?

Each year the BOB committee nominates and votes on books for the battle. Book selections may include fiction & non-fiction in many genres.

Books for grades 4-6

Books for grades 6-10

MUST STUDENTS READ ALL 5 OF THE BOOKS?

It is recommended but each team/coach will have their own strategies.

WHY PARTICIPATE IN BATTLE OF THE BOOKS?

Prestige & prizes! The winning teams’ libraries will get trophies to display until the next battle. The top 3 teams will get prizes & all participating students will receive a certificate!
